Caleb Gindl
Caleb Gindl, a former professional baseball outfielder from Pace, Florida, attended Pace High School. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Milwaukee Brewers, who drafted him in the fifth round of the 2007 MLB Draft. In his first year, he played for the Rookie-level Helena Brewers, achieving a .372 batting average in 55 games, with 5 home runs, 42 RBIs, and 22 doubles, earning recognition as a Pioneer League Post-Season All-Star.
In 2008, Gindl played the entire season with the Class A West Virginia Power, where he hit .307 in 137 games, recording 13 home runs, 81 RBIs, 38 doubles, 86 runs, and 14 stolen bases, once again earning Post-Season All-Star honors. He spent the offseason with the West Oahu CaneFires in Hawaii Winter Baseball, hitting .281 with 3 home runs and 18 RBIs over 25 games.
In 2009, Gindl was promoted to the Class A-Advanced Brevard County Manatees, where he batted .277 in 112 games, hitting 17 home runs, driving in 71 RBIs, and stealing 18 bases, earning both Mid and Post-Season All-Star accolades. He spent the entire 2010 season with the Double-A Huntsville Stars, hitting .272 in 128 games with 9 home runs, 60 RBIs, and 33 doubles. That offseason, he played in the Arizona Fall League with Surprise, hitting .259 in 16 games, with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs, and was named an AFL Rising Star.
In 2011, Gindl received an invitation to major league spring training and played for Triple-A Nashville, where he hit .307 in 126 games, with 15 home runs, 60 RBIs, 84 runs, and 63 walks. In 2012, he batted .261 with 12 home runs and 50 RBIs in 127 games for Nashville.
Gindl began the 2013 season with Nashville, hitting .274 with 8 home runs and 38 RBIs before being recalled by the Brewers on June 15. He made his MLB debut on June 22, recording his first hit as a pinch hitter against Tim Hudson of the Braves. During his first stint, he played primarily off the bench and in left field. On June 29, he was optioned back to Nashville after hitting 5-for-20 with 1 RBI.
Gindl was recalled again on July 11. On July 21, he hit his first career home run—a walk-off in the 13th inning against the Miami Marlins—making him the first player in Brewers history to hit a walk-off home run as his first MLB homer. Throughout his time in Milwaukee, Gindl mainly served as a bench player, though he also made starts in left field and occasionally in right field.
In 57 games with the Brewers, Gindl recorded a batting average of .242, with 5 home runs, 14 RBIs, 17 runs, and 20 walks.
