Drew Cumberland

Drew was born and raised in Pace Florida. He was raised in a baseball family and has loved it since day one. Drew signed a scholarship to Louisiana State University (LSU) to play baseball but was selected in the first round of the MLB draft (46th) overall by the San Diego Padres. Drew decided to go the pro route and follow his dreams of playing in the big leagues. Drew was a top prospect in the Padres system and won multiple awards for best hitter and base runner in the system. In 2010 he was selected to play in the futures game in Angels stadium alongside Mike Trout, Ben Revere, Mike Moustakas, Eric Hismer, and many others still playing in the big leagues today.

Drew's career was cut short due to concussions and a condition called bilateral vestibulopathy which affects his inner ear and equilibrium. Drew went back and coached in the Padres system for their low A team the Fort Wayne Tin Caps and also in the instructional league before making a comeback. Even though he wanted to play in the big leagues his condition was just too much and he decided to retire.

Drew is now a big influence on young kids and high school players. He has been doing lessons for the past 12 years and continues to pass on his knowledge to young athletes he comes in contact with.
